The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him today and what came to my heart and mind in Proverbs 9:1-2,
"Wisdom has built her house;
she has set up its seven pillars.
She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine;
she has also set her table."
The number 7 appears to have a significance in Scripture, often thought to represent completeness and perfection (God rested on the seventh day following his creative works, etc.). Wisdom has set up its seven pillars, which just might refer to the completeness and perfection of what Wisdom offers.
In any event, she has prepared her offerings as a finished and completed affair of perfection. In past-tense we are told what Wisdom serves up has been fully prepared and served up with the table all set. Wisdom is not evolving, it is not growing, it is not improving. Wisdom is fully matured and exists in perfection.
We, on the other hand, who feast upon Wisdom's offerings, are growing, we are evolving, we are improving. The reason for that is we start with a huge need for Wisdom in our natural state, and grow and mature as we consume that which which she offers, that which is a completed perfection.
