How To Find Wisdom - Ruminating in the Word of God

The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saohim today anwhat came to my heart and mind in Proverbs 2:1-8,

"My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
indeed, if you call out for insight
    and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones."

The rewards for obtaining wisdom in our lives is laid out here:
Understanding the fear of the Lord
Finding the knowledge of God
Success in our lives
Protection (a shield) for us
Guarding and protecting our course, our way.

However, the key to these wonderful things is pursuit! We need to actively pursue wisdom. We do this by:
Accepting God's words
Memorizing God's commands (storing up)
Actively turning our ears to wisdom
Applying our hearts to understanding
Calling out for insight and understanding
Looking for it as we would a precious thing (silver, hidden treasure)

If we actively pursue these things we will gain an understanding of the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God!

This is the path to becoming wise!

Anything of the Lord capture your heart from Scripture today? Share what moved you about him from your Bible reading today. I'd love to hear from you!

If you have someone you would like to receive these ruminations, send me their email address. I'm happy to add them to the list. If you are receiving this and would like to be removed from the list, just reply and let me know.
