"Better Than" - Ruminating in the Word of God

The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saohim today anwhat came to my heart and mind in Proverbs 17:1,

"Better a dry crust with peace and quiet
than a house full of feasting, with strife."

There are a number of "better than" proverbs in the book and this is one of them. Certainly feasting is better than a dry crust, and peace and quiet is better than strife.

The best of all things would be feasting without strife, having peace and quiet. The worst of all things would be only a dry crust to eat with strife.

However, when it comes to an unavoidable combination, peace and quiet with not much to eat is certainly better than much to eat with strife.

According to this proverb, these are the priorities to pursue!

Anything of the Lord capture your heart from Scripture today? Share what moved you about him from your Bible reading today. I'd love to hear from you!

If you have someone you would like to receive these ruminations, send me their email address. I'm happy to add them to the list. If you are receiving this and would like to be removed from the list, just reply and let me know.
