To Be Knowledgeable or To Be Stupid? - Ruminating in the Word of God

The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saohim today anwhat came to my heart and mind in Proverbs 12:1,

"Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but whoever hates correction is stupid."

It seems to me what lies at the heart of hating correction is a lack of humility. Afterall, who likes having to acknowledge they need correction? That means others around us see that we are "doing it wrong", whatever "it" may be. Particularly when we think we have a handle on things. We all like to think we have it all together and that keeps us from seeing the need for correction. This proverb here bluntly calls someone like that stupid.

On the positive side, if we do love knowledge, we are going to love discipline (correction), because discipline delivers it.

It comes down to a choice: do we love knowledge enough that we are willing to be corrected, disciplined? Particularly when it is the Lord doing it through the Scriptures? Or, would we rather protect our egos?

Anything of the Lord capture your heart from Scripture today? Share what moved you about him from your Bible reading today. I'd love to hear from you!

If you have someone you would like to receive these ruminations, send me their email address. I'm happy to add them to the list. If you are receiving this and would like to be removed from the list, just reply and let me know.
