Worship for Today: The Lord brings ultimate satisfaction in life!

The Lord is awe-inspiring, fascinating, intriguing, majestic, and full of splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him in Psalm 37:4,

Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

What a fascinating observation! David tells us if we delight ourselves in the Lord we will not be disappointed. The Lord will give us the desires of our hearts. The Lord reciprocates. We read in James 4:8, Come near to God and he will come near to you. If we delight in the Lord, the Lord will delight us, he will satisfy us by fulfilling/reciprocating that delight, giving us the desires of our hearts.

Not many things in this world are this way. So many folks place their desires on that in which they will only be disappointed. Overpriced cars and lifestyles, would-be romances, riches, fame and so much of what many pursue is elusive. And, often, when achieved or possessed, what was desired seems to loose its luster and appeal. The satisfaction is just not there. Solomon, in the book of Ecclesiastes makes much of this point. The testimonies of those who have won the lottery or gained riches in other ways attest to this reality.

But not for those of us who delight ourselves in the Lord! Here is certain fulfilled desire! Here is delight that continues to grow and develop! Here is an inheritance into the kingdom of God where we experience joy in the presence of the Lord and will experience eternal pleasures at his right hand! Psalm 16:11. The profundity and depth of the perfections and glory of God assure that there will never be a time when we will not be entranced, enchanted, excited and knocked off our feet by our matchless Lord and Savior!

Anything of the Lord capture your heart from Scripture today? Share your thoughts of worship with us from your Bible reading today. We’d love to hear from you!
