Worship for Today: God surrounds his people!

The Lord is awe-inspiring, fascinating, intriguing, majestic, and full of splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him in Psalm 125:2,

"As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore."

This verse speaks to me of the protection the Lord provides us as his people and his close involvement in our lives. The psalmist in verse 1 says that those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion which cannot be shaken but endures forever. Just as Mount Zion is protected by the mountains that surround Jerusalem, so we are protected by the Lord.

This is not to say that hardships and difficulties don't come our way. As we face the hardships and difficulties in life our God is there with us, ensuring that nothing threatens us outside of what he uses for what is good in our lives, as we read in Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

How wonderful to know our God is with us and that as we face the challenges and dangers of living in this lost and fallen world, our God watches over each of us to protect us and to make sure his purposes in our lives are fulfilled!

Anything of the Lord capture your heart from Scripture today? Share your thoughts of worship with us from your Bible reading today. We'd love to hear from you!
