Worship for Today: The Lord's love endures forever!

The Lord is awe-inspiring, fascinating, intriguing, majestic, and full of splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him in Psalm 106:1-2,

Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord or fully declare his praise?

In the first of these two verses is a refrain not uncommon in the book of Psalms, his love endures forever. In Psalm 136 it is the second line of each of the 26 verses of that psalm. That psalm raises in my mind the thought that possibly the singers in the temple worship in Jerusalem were divided into two groups, the one extolling the Lords wonderful works and the other responding with the refrain, his love endures forever as each work of the Lord is told.

The phrase his love endures forever to me is much more than just window dressing to adorn this psalm. It holds a vital truth about God that is very important to me. To know that Gods love is not something that is here today and may be gone at some time in the future is very important to me. It is in Gods love that I rest secure, knowing that he has my best interests in his heart. It is Gods love that prompted him to send his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. It is Gods love that has prepared a place for us in his kingdom. It is Gods love that keeps us in him until we reach the resurrection! It is Gods love that provides for us all we need to find joy, happiness, fulfillment and purpose in life!

To know that this love of the Lord endures forever, that it will never change and that it will be the driving force for his interaction with those of us who have embraced him in faith is simply a wonderful and awesome thing. Those who have not embraced him in faith will face his wrath, but for us, we have a hope and future for which we could never fully declare the praise due him! Possibly this is why we find this phrase repeated in various places.

Anything of the Lord capture your heart from Scripture today? Share your theme of worship with us from your Bible reading today. We’d love to hear from you!
