The Lord is awe-inspiring, fascinating, intriguing, majestic, and full of splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him in Psalm 68:19,
“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.”
In Psalm 8:4 David asks a fascinating question: “What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?” The fascination for me in that question is in the recognition that the One who created all there is, the endless spinning galaxies and solar systems, the vast array of stars of immense proportion and distance, the complex of molecular structure and design, the Creator of all there is, is mindful of man! The One who created the earth and all therein by the utterance of his words cares for us! His love, care and concern for us is mindboggling to me as I consider just who he is, what he is like, and what he does!
Here in this psalm, David points out that the awesome, transcendent and multi-splendored God we know as our Creator daily bears our burdens! How astonishing that we, who often can’t seem to take the time or make the effort to bear one another’s burdens, even for those we supposedly love, have such a place in our God’s heart that he daily bears our burdens!
