Worship for Today: Our wonderful God has blessed us with his promises!

The Lord is awe-inspiring, fascinating, intriguing, majestic, and full of splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him in Genesis 28:3-4,

May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and increase your numbers until you become a community of peoples. May he give you and your descendants the blessing given to Abraham, so that you may take possession of the land where you now live as an alien, the land God gave to Abraham.

Here Isaac blesses Jacob as he commands him to go and get a wife from Rebekahs family. The blessing Isaac gives to Jacob acknowledges that it is God himself who is the source of these blessings. This blessing is very specific as it is contains the very promises that God originally made to Abraham in Genesis 12. From Abraham they were passed on to Isaac and now Isaac passes them on to his son Jacob.

We too are recipients and share in these promises of God, If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29 and, This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 3:6.

These wonderful promises are from God himself. In his great mercy God has decided to bless us beyond all comprehension! It is God himself and not our godliness or good clean living or having in some way indebted God toward us that we share in these wonderful promises of God.

Just what is it about the heart of our wonderful God that he has decided to bless us with his wonderful promises? What a heart this is!!

Anything of the Lord capture your heart from Scripture today? Share your theme of worship with us from your Bible reading today. We’d love to hear from you!
