Worship for Today: Our God is present, right here with us!!

The Lord is awe-inspiring, fascinating, intriguing, majestic, and full of splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him in Genesis 28:16,

When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.’”

Jacob here is in route to find himself a wife in Haran. He stops for the night at Bethel and has his dream/vision of a stairway to heaven with angels traveling to and fro and God speaking to him. Jacobs reaction is that he had no idea the place he stopped at was where God was. He says, This is none other than the house of God…”

As I read my Bible I discover that God is omnipresent. There is no place or time where God is not present. Here is a truth that seems to escape me at those moments when it would be best to be reminded of this reality. I am even reminded that God dwells within me as a believer in Jesus Christ through his Holy Spirit.

This means there is nothing I will encounter on my own. God is right here with me, knowing what I will face even before I do. The good things and the bad things: all things I encounter I will do so with him. He knows what I have need of and he knows the things I struggle with. When I feel down, he is right here with me. When I feel up he is right here with me. As I face the future with its uncertainties I know I will face them with him right here with me. I will never be alone but will always have the company of the Creator of all things who works for my good in all things, Romans 8:28-29.

How often I have had to say, Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it. How I need to remind myself of this truth and allow it to influence the things I think, do, say and feel. I am never alone, the Lord is in this place!!

Anything of the Lord capture your heart from Scripture today? Share your theme of worship with us from your Bible reading today. We’d love to hear from you!
