The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him today and what came to my heart and mind in Isaiah 33:5-6,

"The Lord is exalted, for he dwells on high; he will fill Zion with justice and righteousness. He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure."
Our Lord is transcendent.
This passage points out that he "dwells on high". His majestic splendor, this exaltation that is his, lies in this transcendence above and beyond mankind and the world in which we live.
Because of his transcendence he is unshakable and unmovable as "a sure foundation for your times."
As I consider the beauty of our transcendent and exalted Lord, so many wonderful and ineffable thoughts come to mind. Here in this passage we are told we find in him "a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge"! How fascinating, wonderful and important a treasure that is.
What would I give for this "rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge"? Would not a man give all he has for such treasure? And yet, we are told that the fear of the Lord is "the key to this treasure"!
Just acknowledging who God really is – not as I assume him to be, but as he has revealed himself in Scripture – is all the Lord asks from us for this wonderful treasure.
How important is the fear of the Lord!
