The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him today and what came to my heart and mind in Isaiah 35:1-10,

"The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy… they will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God… Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert… and a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in that Way; wicked fools will not go about on it. No lion will be there, nor will any ferocious beast get up on it; they will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there, and the ransomed of the Lord will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away."
As the book of Isaiah is replete with judgment against nations, God provides wonderful encouragement for those he will redeem, those who will survive his judgment. Encouragement is provided for Judah, that she will have a remnant that will return to Palestine after a period of captivity.
Here in this passage, the encouragement is extended to those of us who will return in the resurrection of life. This encouragement is as wonderful, exciting and colorful as the promises of God! What a day that will be! "Gladness and joy will overtake them"!
The infirmities of this life, the difficulties of living in a cursed world held in the bondage of sin, sickness, pain and death, disappointment and unfairness - all that comes with living life as a member of a cursed and fallen race of people - will all be reversed with the bright awakening in the resurrection with all of the excitement and joy it will bring!
"To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy- to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen"!
