Worship for Today: God provides payment for our sins!

The Lord is awe-inspiring, fascinating, intriguing, majestic, and full of splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him in Psalm 49:7-9,

No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for him- the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough- that he should live on forever and not see decay.

This psalm, from the Sons of Korah, clearly has eternal life in view. The psalm instructs us not to be overawed when the wicked grow rich. Those riches will never have enough value to redeem the life of the man without understanding. In our verses above we learn that no one can redeem anyones life! It is simply too costly!

But the psalmist says in verse 15 that God will redeem his life from the grave, he will surely take me to himself. And so God has done this wonderful thing! In Romans 3:22-25a we read, This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.

How wonderful this is!! Jesus Christ has paid the price to redeem us! This is not just some point of theology for debate, this is a promise from God himself! This is life! Eternal life that God has made available by providing redemption: paying the price for our sins before his council of justice! Free, abundant and eternal life with him - available to us if we but embrace him in faith!

What a heart of love our God has for us!!

Anything of the Lord capture your heart from Scripture today? Share your theme of worship with us from your Bible reading today. We’d love to hear from you!
