The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him today and what came to my heart and mind in 2 Corinthians 9:12-15,
"This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!"
As Paul coordinated the gift he was collecting from them and taking to Jerusalem, he spoke to the Corinthians of this wonderful service they were providing to the saints there through this gift.
Uppermost in Paul's mind was the "surpassing grace" God had given them which rendered heart attitudes that prompted this gift in the first place. "Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!"
This indescribable gift of God is his life-changing grace. God changes lives! He puts love in our hearts for one another such that we willingly give for the needs of one another.
He takes changed lives that his grace has turned into wonderful sources of joy and encouragement, provision, etc. and then places them in our lives.
Our God changes hearts, our God changes lives! What a God we serve! What a God who does such things!
