"But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
'The Lord is great!'"
As David faced threats from his enemies, he turned to the Lord for help. David had a number of these occasions in his life and he has provided his thoughts to us in many of his psalms as they occurred.
As a man of deep faith, David often turned to the Lord. What he found in the Lord was that he was faithful and a great help in time of need! This is why he penned this verse.
All who seek the Lord will rejoice and be glad in him as David observes here. All those who long for the Lord's saving help will find, "The Lord is great!"
God is faithful and we can count on him to see us through this life and into an eternal bliss with him in the next, "He [God] will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." 1 Corinthians 1:8-9.
No wonder all who seek the Lord will be filled with joy and say "The Lord is great!"
