The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him today and what came to my heart and mind in Acts 17:26-28,
"From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’"
In Paul’s address to the Areopagus we see that throughout the history of mankind, God has been instrumental in mankind’s affairs with the objective that “men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him.”
In another place, 1 Timothy 2:3-4, we read, “This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”
And as that familiar passage says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son… ", John 3:16.
God loves man! In spite of our sin, in spite of our rebellion and going our own way, our God loves us!
What an inscrutable heart and what a wonderful heart our God has!
