The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him today and what came to my heart and mind in Titus 2:11-14,
"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope–the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good."
Paul gives Titus some instruction here for what folks are to do as they await the coming of "our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ."
What Paul says is that Jesus redeemed us from our old way of life by giving himself as the payment – to purify for himself people that "are his very own."
My focus this morning is the "blessed hope"! Jesus is coming for us! He is bringing his reward with him! We have an incredible future to look forward to!
Maybe I should live like I really believe that…
