The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him today and what came to my heart and mind in Titus 2:11-14,
"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good."
On one occasion, as Jesus and his disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee, a "furious storm" suddenly slammed the boat with waves crashing over it. The disciples woke Jesus and he "rebuked the winds and the waves and it was completely calm." The response of his astonished disciples was a question that has been asked by people everywhere down through the ages, "What kind of man is this?"
In this passage from Titus, Paul clearly answers the question: Jesus Christ is "our great God and Savior"! We wait for his glorious appearance that will usher in a new age, an age that will celebrate the grace of God in all his breath-taking glory.
God's grace brings salvation! Jesus Christ gave himself for us: He redeemed us from wickedness!
Today we are waiting for his glorious appearing, as tomorrow we will be living in a new order of things - where we all will be transfixed on the wonderful splendor and majesty of our matchless God and Savior, Jesus Christ!
