Those Who Hope In The Lord Willl Not Be Disappointed - Ruminating in the Word of God

The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saohim today anwhat came to my heart and mind in Isaiah 49:23c,

"Then you will know that I am the LORD;
    those who hope in me will not be disappointed."

As the Lord tells the Jewish exiles in Babylon that he is going to deliver them from captivity, he points out that those who set their hope on him will not be disappointed.

As I consider what the Lord has promised us - we who were held captive to sin and rebellion and subject to a sin nature from birth, held captive in a cursed world, we who were facing a certain future in the Lake of Fire - still subject to sickness, disease and death – as I consider what he has held out to us for a hope is astonishing!

Release from the tyranny of our sin natures, freedom from the judgment of eternal death for our sins, with complete forgiveness, his indwelling Holy Spirit as a down-payment, a deposit guaranteeing our participation in an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade… an eternity with him in the resurrection!

No more sickness, pain or death, no more separation from loved ones, living in a pristine environment as intended by our creator - free from sin, corruption and crime! An eternity of opportunity to pursue the creative talents and gifts the Lord himself has given us… a fascinating existence of wonder, of fulfillment!

And to think we will not be disappointed! The promises of God are as certain as our existence today!

Anything of the Lord capture your heart from Scripture today? Share what moved you about him from your Bible reading today. I'd love to hear from you!

If you have someone you would like to receive these ruminations, send me their email address. I'm happy to add them to the list. If you are receiving this and would like to be removed from the list, just reply and let me know.
