The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him today and what came to my heart and mind in Isaiah 50:4,
"The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught."
One of the things that has so fascinated me is that the Creator of the universe has chosen to reveal his thoughts to us, to talk with us, to let us know things about himself.
In the book of Isaiah we have seen the Lord disclose to us through Isaiah his anger toward sin, his disgust of idols, his broken heart at being rejected by Judah, his love for his people, his encouragement of the exiles in Babylon, his desire to see sinners turn to him, his plan to send his Messiah.
Did the Lord have to communicate with us? Does he, for any reason, have to love us and share his thoughts and feelings with us?
Here is the stunning truth: "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." 2 Peter 1:20-21.
As I think about this, the more I become fascinated!
