Our God Is Faithful! - Ruminating in the Word of God

The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saohim today anwhat came to my heart and mind in Psalm 92:1-3,

"It is good to praise the Lord
and make music to your name, O Most High,
proclaiming your love in the morning
    and your faithfulness at night,
to the music of the ten-stringed lyre
and the melody of the harp."

From the header to this psalm we learn it is a song for the Sabbath day, a song of worship. The writer points to two things in verse 2 that he bases his worship on: the Lord's love and the Lord's faithfulness.

This morning, as I think about the faithfulness of the Lord, I find it to be one of the many qualities I cherish most of him. There is much that can be said about having a Creator God who never changes and always follows through on what he says. What pleased him yesterday is what pleases him today. What he determined yesterday holds true today. What he promised yesterday is still his promise today.

What if God were ever-changing? What if one day he said we could be his children if we embraced Jesus Christ in faith and the next day say that really wasn't working for him, that now we would have to prove ourselves worthy by doing good works? What if God said he changed his mind about the things he has promised? What would our lives be like in a world controlled by a god like that? Us, never knowing what to expect?

But our God is not that way! Our God is never-changing and is faithful in all his promises to us! One of the many wonderful aspects of his faithfulness has to do with his keeping us as his until the day of redemption and throughout eternity. 1 Corinthians 1:8-9 says, "He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful."

Paul points to the faithfulness of God himself: that is what guarantees me, as a child of God today, that I will always be his child and nothing will ever change that. God is faithful and will bring me into his kingdom on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Anything of the Lord capture your heart from Scripture today? Share what moved you about him from your Bible reading today. I'd love to hear from you!
