The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him today and what came to my heart and mind in Psalm 93:1-5,

"The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty;
the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength;
indeed, the world is established, firm and secure.
Your throne was established long ago;
you are from all eternity.
The seas have lifted up, Lord,
the seas have lifted up their voice;
the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.
Mightier than the thunder of the great waters,
mightier than the breakers of the sea—
the Lord on high is mighty.
Your statutes, Lord, stand firm;
holiness adorns your house
for endless days."
When one thinks of Jesus Christ, what is seen? What do they perceive him to be? What is his personality like? Is he typically soft spoken and tender, always exuding love and kindness? Is he judgmental, expecting us to tow the line? Is he wise and erudite, the sage to come to when answers are needed?
I'm sure he is seen as all of these (and more) depending on who is doing the looking and what their circumstances happen to be at the time. For me, I tend to view Jesus Christ as God Almighty in his deity and a manly-man in his humanity. I often picture him as virile: energy, power and forcefulness. Bold, distinctive and assertive. This Psalm certainly portrays the Lord in this light.
We read in Hebrews 1:3, "The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being..." What we see in the Father, we see in the Son. What we see in the Son, we see in the Father.
In this psalm we read that he reigns, robed in majesty and armed with strength! Eternal. "Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea— the Lord on high is mighty."
I see this in the image of Jesus Christ as the rider of the white horse we read of in Revelation 19:11-16, "I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. 'He will rule them with an iron scepter.' He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."
Jesus Christ is all of these things and so much more! Loving, tender, merciful, full of love- he is also the "Lion of the tribe of Judah"!
