The Lord is awe-inspiring, fearsome, fascinating, intriguing, and majestic in his radiant splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him today and what came to my heart and mind in 1 John 1:2-3,
"The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ."
"The life appeared…" To imagine that God would send his Son into the world to take the penalty for our sin is an expression of love that transcends my ability to comprehend!
Luke quotes Jesus Christ as saying, "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost." Luke 19:10.
The apostle Paul tells us, "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners- of whom I am the worst." 1 Timothy 1:15.
And then to realize that he has done it all that we might have fellowship with him! Astonishing!
