The Lord is awe-inspiring, fascinating, intriguing, majestic, and full of splendor: breathtaking! Here is what I saw of him in Psalm 16:8-11,
“I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
This psalm looks ahead to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It speaks to me of my resurrection as well and the resurrection of all of us who have embraced Jesus Christ in faith. Our God has made known to us the path of life and will not allow our bodies to be abandoned to the grave, but will raise us up on resurrection day.
What has really captured my eye this morning is David’s statement that the Lord will fill him with joy in his presence and with eternal pleasures at his right hand! Think of it… eternal pleasures will be ours in the resurrection. We don’t talk much about this but I am certain that whatever pleasures this life may have to offer will hold no candle to the eternal pleasures that will be ours in the resurrection!
Here is something to reach out and grasp to bring an inexpressible and glorious joy over our inheritance in Jesus Christ today!!
